Greg received dual undergraduate degrees in 1997 from the University of Utah, and in 2001 he completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Utah, S.J. Quinney College of Law, graduating in the top 10% of his class. While in law school, Greg clerked for the Honorable Matthew B. Durrant, Chief Justice of the Utah Supreme Court.
Greg represents clients in state, federal and appellate courts, as well as before various administrative agencies and tribunals and in arbitration proceedings. His expertise includes a broad range of commercial areas including general and complex commercial litigation, construction litigation, product liability litigation, copyright infringement litigation, trademark (Lanham Act) litigation, business tort litigation, professional negligence and other business related litigation including securities fraud, corporate and partner disputes, real estate disputes, landlord and tenant disputes, common interest development disputes, employment matters, FHA and ADA matters, municipal law, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights litigation. Greg has represented clients in contract negotiations and enforcement in a wide range of matters involving real estate, securities, asset purchases, licensing, partnerships and other business transactions.
Greg served as Chief Deputy City Attorney for the City of Surprise gaining broad based municipal law experience and practice in advising city officials on matters pertinent to critical municipal operations. He has extensive knowledge of and experience in electronic discovery (e-discovery) and data management. He also has assisted his clients in obtaining pre- and post-judgment remedies, and he has pursued and defended claims involving fraudulent transfers and alter ego- and successor-liability.
Mr. Seibt regularly provides legal advice and guidance to businesses on a wide variety of employment, regulatory and other matters pertaining to employment law, staffing, promotion, compensation, benefits, disciplinary, grievance, termination and appeals. He has represented clients in matters before the EEOC, Industrial Commission of Arizona, Personnel Appeals Boards, Attorney General’s Office, and Office of Civil Rights. Mr. Seibt has extensive experience in analyzing EEOC position statements and reports and preparation of responses to EEOC complaints. He regularly consults with clients and advises them on risk management issues and in the adoption of policies and measures to mitigate risk, responds to Notices of Claim, and negotiates for settlement of claims, and assists in preparing clients for mediation, arbitration and trial of claims if settlement either cannot be achieved or is otherwise inadvisable for policy or other reason.
Mr. Seibt’s commercial litigation practice focuses on businesses, financial institutions and individuals with issues relating to contract, business torts, major collections and general commercial matters, secured transactions and U.C.C. claims disputes.
Mr. Seibt represents public and private owners, general contractors, major subcontractors and design professionals on public and private projects in design professional liability issues, errors and omissions, contract drafting and negotiation, claims preparation, arbitration and trial of claims, surety claims, and job site injuries.
Mr. Seibt represents title companies and insureds in litigation relating to title insurance coverage, escrow liability, land trust and account servicing responsibilities. He regularly represents developers, purchasers, sellers and lenders in transactions, and in litigation arising out of transactions. He also represents landlords and major tenants in commercial lease disputes, and general real estate issues, including contract and commission disputes and broker errors and omissions cases.
Mr. Seibt’s bankruptcy and insolvency practice focuses on a broad range of both consumer and commercial matters from consumer cases of all designations to distressed business situations of all kinds, including Chapter 7 liquidations to Chapter 11 restructurings, non-bankruptcy workouts and turnarounds. Mr. Seibt regularly represents both individual debtors and institutional lenders, companies in distress, and other key constituencies in Chapter 11 cases. He often advises clients on a wide range of commercial disputes.
Mr. Seibt has served as lead counsel on behalf of secured lenders in a number of high profile cases. Since 2001, he has served as counsel for lenders on debt obligations in the hundreds of millions of dollars secured by various kinds of commercial assets. He has served as lead counsel for various Chapter 11 debtors.
Mr. Seibt also regularly serves as trial and appellate counsel with regard to nearly all forms of litigation related to insolvent companies, including plan confirmation and stay relief litigation, fraudulent transfer and preference litigation, lender liability disputes, and other kinds of litigation related to debtor-creditor relations.
